Prep Toronto
Pre-summer detailing for road-trip cars. Ceramic refresh, UV protection, bug resistance — ready for Muskoka, cottage country, or cross-border highway miles.
Why Summer Is Tricky
Summer Damage Is Invisible Until It Is Not
Toronto summer is the opposite of Toronto winter. Winter damage is visible and immediate — salt leaves visible film, slush sprays onto rocker panels, the car comes back grey after one drive. Summer damage is invisible until August, when suddenly the clear coat looks hazy, the hood has chip damage you did not notice accumulating, the leather feels drier than it did in April, and the AC smell is less fresh than it was.
The cars that stay looking new through summer are not the ones that survived — they are the ones that were prepared for the specific contaminants summer brings. Bug residue bonds fast in heat. Sap etches clear coat within 24 hours in direct sun. UV accelerates leather aging dramatically. Hard water and pool chlorine leave deposits that survive weekly washes.
Summer cruise prep packages all of this into one pre-season booking. Ceramic refresh so bug residue releases. UV treatment so leather survives July. Decontamination so spring contamination does not carry through. Optional PPF for highway drivers. Done in late April or May, the car is ready for whatever the next five months throws at it.
What Summer Does to Your Car
Six things summer prep is built around
UV fade and oxidation
Summer sun in Toronto is strong enough to oxidize unprotected clear coat and fade leather. A single sweltering July week without protection is visibly aging.
Bug residue bonding
Bug strikes on the front clip bond fastest when paint is hot. Within 48 hours they etch into clear coat if not removed. Highway driving through cottage country is the worst offender.
Sap and pollen
Parking under trees at cottages, beaches, or the Toronto waterfront leaves sap and pollen. Both damage clear coat faster in direct sun. Worst cases etch within 24 hours.
Hard water and chlorine
Cottage lake water, pool splash, and car washes with hard water leave mineral deposits that baked-on hot paint refuse to give up. Etching is common on the first wash after.
Interior heat + HVAC strain
Cabin temps hit 60°C in a surface-lot parked car. Leather dries, plastics off-gas, and the cabin smell shifts. AC works harder than it should because the cabin takes longer to cool.
Highway rock chips
Going north on the 400 or east on the 401 to Prince Edward County means hours of highway exposure. Front bumpers pick up more chips in two summer trips than a whole winter of commuting.
What Summer Prep Includes
Six anchors every summer package builds on
Full decontamination wash
Iron remover, tar remover, clay bar. Pulls off any bonded spring-to-summer contamination before sealing the paint for the cruise season.
Ceramic refresh or topper
Ceramic topper in the same product family as your existing coating. Restores hydrophobic behaviour and bug-release properties for summer highway miles.
UV-protective interior treatment
Leather cleaner, UV-blocking protectant, dashboard and trim conditioned against direct sun exposure. Glass roof and windshield coated.
Cabin air reset
AC vent deep clean, cabin filter inspection coordinated with your mechanic, odor treatment if needed. Cabin feels as fresh as the day you bought the car.
Targeted PPF for road trips
Front bumper and hood leading-edge PPF if you don't already have it — the cheapest rock-chip insurance available before long-drive summer. Adds 1–2 days to the booking.
Wheel + tire treatment
Wheel face clean + ceramic, tire dressing that resists the heat of 4-hour highway runs. No sling-off on the AC condenser on the way home.

Summer Cruise Prep FAQ
What downtown owners ask before road-trip season
Summer cruise prep is a pre-season detailing service for cars that will see heavy summer driving — cottages, road trips, highway miles to wine country or Muskoka. It covers three things: protecting against the specific contamination summer brings (bug strikes, sap, pollen, hard water), UV protection for interior and exterior, and setting up the car so weekly highway miles do not accumulate permanent damage.
