Toronto detail prices range from $40 to $1,500 for "the same service." Here’s an honest breakdown of what each price tier really gets you, and where to spend.
Car detailing prices in Toronto are confusing on purpose. The same words — "full detail," "paint correction," "ceramic coating" — can mean a $40 service or a $2,000 service. Here’s a breakdown of what each tier actually gets you and where smart owners spend.
Express wash & vacuum: $40–$100
Hand wash exterior, basic interior vacuum, glass clean, tire dressing. About 30–60 minutes. Good for a between-detail tune-up. Not a "detail" in any real sense.
Full interior detail: $180–$350
Vacuum, steam clean, leather conditioning, fabric extraction, vent cleaning, deodorize. 2–4 hours. The honest middle of the market for a real interior refresh.
Full exterior detail: $180–$320
2-bucket hand wash, decontamination, clay bar, polish, sealant, wheel detail. 2–3 hours. What most people actually mean when they say "full detail."
Full interior + exterior detail: $300–$600
Both of the above bundled. The most-booked package at most Toronto studios. If you only get one detail per year, this is it.
Paint correction (single-stage): $400–$700
Removes 60–80% of swirl marks and light scratches with a single polishing pass. Adds significant gloss. 4–6 hours of machine work. Worth it on a daily driver every 1–2 years.
Paint correction (multi-stage): $800–$1,500
Compound + polish + finishing — removes 90%+ of defects, near-show finish. 8–12 hours of work. The right move on a collector car or before a ceramic coating.
Ceramic coating: $900–$2,200
Includes the prep work above + a multi-year hydrophobic coating. The price spread reflects whether the prep is real and which coating is being applied. We covered the full breakdown in our ceramic coating cost guide.
Paint protection film (PPF): $800–$8,000+
Targeted partial wraps (front bumper, hood) start around $800–$1,500. Full body PPF on a luxury car runs $5,000–$8,000. Self-healing, lifetime warranty when installed properly.
Where smart owners spend
For a daily-driven luxury car: a Full Interior + Exterior detail twice a year ($600–$900/year), one-time ceramic coating ($1,200–$1,600), and targeted PPF on the front clip ($800–$1,500). Total first-year investment: about $2,500–$3,500. After year one, you’re only paying for the maintenance details — the protection lasts.
Where smart owners DON'T spend
- Drive-thru "ceramic spray" upsells. They last weeks, not years.
- Annual maintenance plans without seeing the work first.
- Cheap interior shampoo specials — they often leave residue that attracts dirt faster.
- Anyone quoting "ceramic coating" under $500. The math doesn’t work.
